How do I set a reminder?
- Right-click the clip, in the popup or in All Clips.
- Choose Remind me.
- Pick In 1 hour, This evening, Tomorrow morning or Next week, or choose Pick a time for your own.
What does Pick a time give me?
A panel with the clip itself, a month to choose a day from, a field for the time, and a line telling you plainly when it is coming back, so there is no guessing what you just set.
There is a note field there too, under "What is it for?". Whatever you write shows on the card when it returns.
How do I set one while writing a note?
Jot understands times in plain words, which is usually faster than the menu.
- Copy something with Jot switched on.
- Write your note with a time in it, like "reply to Sam tomorrow morning".
- Press Tab. The chip under the note turns solid once the time is set.
- Or click the clock at the end of the pinboard row and pick a time from there.
What happens when it is due?
A card drops from the notch with the clip, your note, and three buttons: Copy, Snooze and Done. Copy puts it back on your clipboard and marks it done, and you can undo that if you hit it by mistake.
The card waits about twelve seconds and then goes back up by itself. It is kept out of screen recordings and screen sharing, like the rest of Tucket.
What if I am away from my Mac?
You get a macOS notification instead, with the same Copy, Snooze and Done. When you come back, Tucket shows one card rather than a stack of everything you missed.
macOS asks for permission to send notifications the first time you set a reminder. Say no and reminders still work, they just wait for you on screen instead.
How do I see what is coming up?
A Reminders pill appears in the popup as soon as anything has a reminder. It shows how many, with whatever is due first and then the soonest, and it turns orange when something is waiting for you.
Each clip also carries a small badge, like "Today 6:00 PM", at the bottom of its card. Click the badge to change the time.
The pill lets itself out once the last reminder is done, and you can drag it to sit wherever you like among the other pills.
How do I change or cancel one?
- Right-click the clip again.
- Choose Change reminder to move it, or Remove reminder to call it off.
- Clicking the time badge on the card does the same thing.
Will clearing my history delete the clip I am waiting on?
No. A clip with a reminder on it is kept when you clear your history, and it is never dropped by the history limit either. Tucket says so in the question it asks before clearing.
Good to know
- Settings, then Reminders, has the switch for showing them from the notch while you are at your Mac.
- Jot can set a time and file the clip on a pinboard in the same breath.
- Reminders stay on the Mac they were set on. They do not travel between your Macs, there are no repeating reminders, and there is no iPhone app.
