When something is not working

The things people actually email me about, and what to do about each one. If none of these is your problem, write to me. A real person answers, usually the same day.

Clips are saving but nothing pastes

Clicking a clip closes the popup but nothing appears in your document.

Why: Tucket does not have Accessibility permission. Pasting works by simulating ⌘V, and macOS blocks that without it. This is the single most common thing I hear about.

Fix: Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch Tucket on. No restart needed. If Tucket is already listed and switched on, switch it off and on again, which clears a stale permission after an app update.

Something I copied on my iPhone or iPad never arrived

You copy on an iPhone or iPad, and it pastes fine on the Mac but never appears in Tucket.

Why: A bug in versions before 1.3.3. A clip coming over Universal Clipboard advertises itself before the bytes have finished transferring, and Tucket read it too early, got nothing, and moved on with no second attempt.

Fix: Update to 1.3.3 or later. Tucket now waits a beat before reading a clip marked as remote, and retries for every format rather than only images. Updates install themselves, so you may already have it. Check Settings → About.

It still does not arrive, on 1.3.4 or later.

Why: An excluded app was frontmost. Before 1.3.4 the ignore list was checked before the remote-clip branch, so simply having your password manager in front discarded a clip that came from your phone.

Fix: Update to 1.3.4. Exclusions now only block what you copy inside those apps, which is what they were always meant to do.

The popup keeps opening when I do not want it

Reaching for the menu bar drops the popup down.

Why: The invisible hover zone behind the notch is catching your cursor on the way past.

Fix: Settings → Opening Tucket. The certain fix is to switch off Open Tucket when I hover at the top of the screen: the shortcuts keep working, so ⌘⌃V still opens it. To keep hovering instead, raise How long to rest there first, then narrow How wide the spot is and How far down it reaches. Moving any slider flashes the real spot on screen. Since 1.3.7 the starting values are calmer anyway, at 220 by 24 points and a 0.35 second wait.

Licence and activation trouble

It says you have run out of activations.

Why: Your licence covers 3 Macs at once, and all three slots are in use, often including a Mac you no longer have.

Fix: On any Mac you still have, open Settings → License and choose Deactivate & Quit to free that slot, then activate the new one. If the Mac is gone and you cannot deactivate it, email me and I will clear the slot.

It asks for your licence again after you have been offline.

Why: The licence re-checks in the background after three days. Tucket keeps working for a further fourteen days without a successful check before it asks.

Fix: Connect to the internet once and it will settle by itself. If you are genuinely going to be offline longer than that, email me before you go.

A dragged-out image looks washed out

Dragging an image out of Tucket gives you a faded version with lifted blacks, while pasting the same clip looks right.

Why: A bug before 1.3.4. Capture re-encoded every image and stamped it with an incorrect gamma value the original never had. It only showed on drag because dragging hands over the stored file itself, while pasting takes a different path that drops the bad marker.

Fix: Update to 1.3.4. PNGs are now stored exactly as you copied them, and a one-time background pass repairs images already on disk. It removes the bad marker rather than re-encoding, so your pixels are untouched.

Link preview pictures and site icons look faded, or an image copied back out or a mood board export does.

Why: The same bug, in three places the 1.3.4 fix missed: the link preview downloader, copying an image back out, and mood board export. The downloader mattered most, because link previews are on by default.

Fix: Update to 1.3.5. Every image Tucket writes now goes through one encoder, and the repair pass runs again to fix previews already fetched.

A shortcut pasted the same thing twice

Pressing ⌘⌃1 to ⌘⌃9 put the clip in twice, in some apps.

Why: Tucket pressed ⌘V while you were still holding ⌃, so an app watching the keys saw ⌘⌃V as its own shortcut and pasted as well. Wispr Flow does this with its paste last text command.

Fix: Update to 1.3.7 or later. Tucket now waits until you let the keys go before it pastes.

Still stuck?

Email hello@arpitchandak.com and tell me what happened, what you expected, and which version you are on from Settings → About. I would much rather hear about a problem than have you quietly give up on it.
