tucket

Every setting, explained

Seven tabs. Most people change two things, how many clips to keep and how Tucket opens, then never come back here.

Last updated 2026-09-22

Updates, at the top of General

General opens with which version you are on and the day it came out, a badge reading Up to date, Update available or Could not check, and when Tucket last looked. Check Now looks again, and turns into Install when there is something newer.

There is a link to the notes for every release as well, so you can see what changed before you install it.

General

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
Keep last N50Raise it if you lose things before you get back to them. Range is 25 to 1000. Pinboard clips do not count towards it.
UnlimitedOffYou would rather be limited only by disk space.
Storagen/aRead-only. Check it if you are wondering what Tucket is using.
Launch at loginOffYou want it there every morning without opening it.
Fetch link previewsOnTurn it off if you would rather Tucket made no network requests for your clips. Links then show as bare URLs.
Pasting multiple clips → Pace1×Raise it if an app cannot keep up while several clips paste. Range 0.5× to 3×.
Clear Historyn/aDeletes your saved clips. Pinned clips are kept unless you tick the box to delete those too.
Licensen/aYour key, and Deactivate & Quit when moving Macs.

Everything about how Tucket opens moved to its own tab, Opening Tucket, in 1.3.8.

Opening Tucket

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
Open Tucket when I hover at the top of the screenOnTurn it off and Tucket only opens when you press a shortcut. The best fix if hovering keeps catching you out.
How wide the spot is220ptNarrow it if the popup opens when you reach for the menu bar.
How far down it reaches24ptThe same problem on the other axis.
How long to rest there0.35sRaise it and a quick sweep past no longer counts as resting there.
Keyboard shortcutsn/aThe list of shortcuts that work even with hovering off.
Close when the pointer moves awayOffYou want the popup to shut itself once you move away, rather than staying until you paste.
Wait before closingn/aHow long it waits before closing itself. Only applies with the switch above on.

Move any slider and the real spot flashes at the top of your screen, so you can judge it by eye rather than by number. Reset puts all three back.

Appearance

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
SkinGlassWhenever you fancy. Six of them, see Skins.

Pinboards

Make a board with +, rename or delete one, and see how many clips each holds. Drag the handle to reorder them: the top board shows first in the popup. Covered properly in Pinboards.

Jot

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
Let me note new clipsOffYou want to write down why you kept something, as you keep it.
PositionCenterThe panel is in your way. Five corners, or drag it anywhere.
Set positionn/aOpens it with no timer so you can place it properly.
Stays for5sIt vanishes before you have decided. Range 2 to 20s. Clicking in stops the clock entirely.
Which copies bring it upImages + LinksPer-format switches. Turn on Text if you take a lot of written notes.

Privacy

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
Block sensitive clipsOnLeave it on. Off stores secrets but blurs them behind a lock instead of never saving them.
Find clips from SpotlightOffYou want to find clips from ⌘Space. It copies clip text into the macOS search index, so it is a choice rather than a default.
Pause clipboard captureOff (capturing)You are about to do something you would rather Tucket did not see.
Ignored AppsEmptyAdd your password manager, terminal or banking app.

Intelligence

SettingDefaultWhen you would change it
AI summaries for long clipsOnTurn it off if you would rather see the raw first line. Needs Apple Intelligence, and without it this does nothing either way.
Custom taggingOffYou want to rename a tag right after it is generated rather than from the right-click menu later.
