Pasting things back

Click a clip and it goes into whatever app you were just in. Tucket puts the app you came from back in front first, so you do not have to.

How do I paste something I copied earlier?

  1. Press ⌘⌃V to open the popup.
  2. Find the clip by scrolling the strip, filtering by type, or just typing to search.
  3. Click it. Tucket returns you to the app you were in and pastes.

How do I paste without the formatting?

Hold ⌥ and click. You get plain text with the fonts, sizes and colours stripped out.

A normal click keeps the rich formatting, because that is usually what you copied it for. If you find yourself holding ⌥ constantly, it is worth knowing the clip itself is unchanged either way. It is only how it lands.

How do I paste my last copy without opening anything?

Press ⌘⌃1 for your most recent clip, ⌘⌃2 for the one before it, and so on up to ⌘⌃9, with ⌘⌃0 for the tenth.

No window opens and nothing flashes. This is the fastest thing in Tucket once it is in your fingers, and it is the feature people tell me they miss most in other apps.

How do I drag a clip into another app?

  1. Open the popup.
  2. Drag the tile straight out and drop it where you want it.

How do I drag several clips out at once?

  1. Select them: hold a clip, or right-click it and choose Select, then tap the others in the order you want.
  2. Drag any one of the selected clips. The whole selection comes with it, in the order you tapped.
  3. Drop them. Everything you picked arrives, whatever the mix, and a label follows the drag naming where it will land.

Good to know

  • Pasting needs Accessibility permission, because it works by simulating ⌘V. Without it clips still copy and store fine, they just will not paste back. See Troubleshooting.
  • Several text clips dragged together arrive as one line, in the order you tapped them, so they read as a sentence rather than a list.
  • If something cannot be sent, Tucket says so rather than doing nothing quietly. Dropping onto Finder, for instance, tells you the text clips were not taken.
  • Documents come back as the real file under its original name, not as a screenshot of one.
  • Right-click a clip for the format-specific options: Copy Text, Copy URL, Open Link, Paste as Markdown, and Save Image, SVG or Video.
