Finding something again

One field that searches more than you would expect, including the words inside your screenshots, and any note you wrote about a clip.

How do I search my clips?

  1. Open the popup with ⌘⌃V.
  2. Start typing.
  3. Press Return to paste the first result.

Do I have to type it exactly?

No. Type the words you remember, in any order. Growth ideas finds a clip called 60 ideas to boost your growth, and the words can come from different places, so figma export finds the export you copied out of Figma.

Exact matches still come first. Looser matches are listed after them, and among those a short clip that is about your words beats a long document that happens to mention them.

How do I narrow it down by type?

Use the chips along the top of the popup: Text, Links, Colors, Images, SVG, Icons, Videos, Documents, then one chip per pinboard.

Only the categories you actually have show up, so the strip stays short instead of listing empty types.

Filters and search work together, and in multi-select the filters stay active while you pick.

Where do I search everything at once?

Press ⌘⌃L for All Clips. Same search, but with a sidebar for types, pinboards and source apps, and a preview showing everything Tucket knows about whatever you click.

Can I search my clips from Spotlight?

Yes, once you turn it on. It is off to start with, for the privacy reason below.

  1. Open Settings, then Privacy, and switch on Find clips from Spotlight.
  2. Press ⌘Space and type a phrase from something you copied.
  3. Choose the result. The clip is copied, ready to paste.

Good to know

  • Spotlight search puts your clip text into the macOS search index. It stays on your Mac, but it can appear in Spotlight results, including on a shared screen. Sensitive clips are never added.
  • Switching it off removes everything Tucket added to the index, not just new clips.
